It really scares the bejesus out of me when I think about all the things we consume on this little rock in space which we all happen to live on. Sometimes I like to think about the luxurious life of a king in the middle ages. You know the guy. He has a sparkling crown and he's being fanned by a medevil babe while he eats grapes and a leg of chicken. It sounds pretty nice but when I compare his life to mine, I feel like
I'm the one who's living the life of luxury. I live in a heated room where I have instant access to hot water, light and music. I have a car that can take me across the country at a moments notice. I can eat food, drink liquor and even water from virtually anywhere on earth. Sometimes I even have a modern babe around but she rarely fans me.
The movie
"Home" does a good job of putting all of that in perspective and making you ask, "Is the current American middle class lifestyle realistic to sustain?" It's also free and goddamn gorgeous so you should probably check it out.
